My Story: A Journey of Learning, Living, and Giving Back
Some life lessons don’t come from textbooks—they arrive unexpectedly, shake your world, and change you forever.
I was a young social worker with a freshly earned PhD, ready to dedicate my career to helping others. But just before my second son’s second birthday, I noticed signs—subtle to others, but to me, impossible to ignore. I searched for answers, and those answers led to his autism diagnosis. In that single moment, my world shifted. My years of academic training became a deeply personal mission, and my journey as both a caregiver and an advocate began.
The years that followed were devoted to therapies, research, and learning everything I could to support my child. Along the way, I met countless mothers and families—each with their own story of hope, struggle, and resilience. I realised something important: while many professionals had deep theoretical knowledge, they often lacked the lived experience that shapes true understanding. That gap became my calling—to be the bridge between professional expertise and the day-to-day realities families face.
From supporting parents of children with autism, my work naturally grew. I began helping adults overcome personal challenges, guiding couples to rebuild trust, and assisting families in finding harmony amidst life’s pressures. Whether through relationship counselling, family therapy, or one-on-one guidance, my focus remains on emotional well-being, healthy communication, and practical, culturally sensitive solutions.
Today, my son is a thriving seven-year-old, and my dual role as a mother and a professional social worker is my greatest strength. I walk alongside families not just as a counsellor, but as someone who has been there—someone who truly understands. My purpose is to help them rise beyond coping, to truly thrive, and to create homes filled with empathy, collaboration, and hope.
